A Smile in the Night is a uplifting and upbeat jazz piece. This originally started out as a film-noir inspired track although that changed during the writing.
I’m not sure why but the track reminded me of walking a close female friend home late at night many, many years ago. It brought back some fond memories of someone who helped me more than they realise.
I’m a firm believer people cross our paths for a reason – good or bad. This was someone there during a difficult and challenging time after my mum had a brain haemorrhage. Even though the music has nothing to do with the circumstances, it evokes that feeling for me. One of warmth, and gratitude for the happier times shared at that time.
A Smile in the Night releases on 6th August 2021 and is available on all digital stores and streaming platforms.
