Ace of Cups is the second new music release for 2024 in my continuing series of music based on tarot cards, their symbolism, interpretation, and hidden meanings. ‘Ace of Cups’ was released on 19th July 2024 and is available on all streaming platforms and digital stores.
The Ace of Cups Tarot card is all about new beginnings in love, and relationships as well as compassion and creativity being offered to you.
Who hasn’t experienced the unexpected beginnings and deep feelings of new love that is joyous and uplifting? That’s how I have interpreted this card and the result is a delightfully gentle, and blissful piece of music that builds from the quiet, delicate sense of trepidation in the beginning that builds up to a powerfully emotive and sonorous finale.
Concerning the traditional artwork, the cup is shown coming from a cloud – almost as if it has been hidden and is representative of divine love flowing from the subconscious mind toward the conscious mind. In a lot of Tarot readings, it’s interpreted as the beginning of a new love, relationship or even friendship either on the way or that has recently started. Like everything in life, there is always a choice so do you choose to accept the cup or not?
The water streams flowing from the cup are symbolic of the five senses and abundant emotions within us all. These all fall towards a vast sea covered in lotus blossoms that symbolize purity, overcoming adversity, and rebirth. The dove is another symbol of love. There are multiple theories regarding the letter on the cup – some think it is an upside-down letter “M” that stands for the Hebrew letter “Mem,” which symbolizes water, emotions and the subconscious mind. Another theory is that it is the letter “W” that in Hebrew stands is “Shin,” which symbolizes fire, spirit, and divine energy.
